The Great Outdoors

The Ouse valley is home to some beautiful countryside so there are plenty of things to see & do, here are a few of our favourite activities and places..........

Walking

There are plenty of walks right from our doorstep and even more just a short car ride away. Our favourite is a circular walk across Hemingford Meadow to St Ives through the Thicket to Houghton and the National Trust mill over the river to the meadow to Hemingford Abbots returning along the river bank to ‘The Lodge’

Watersports

Liquid Skillz Watersports centre is just 5 minutes walk from the lodge offering wake-boarding, open water swimming, SUP (stand up paddle-boarding) and inflatable rides. Lake Ashmore has approximately 35 acres of water and has a picturesque woodland walk around the perimeter and 5 acres of rolling grassland adjoining it.

Cycling

Enjoy a walk or cycle along this disused railway line which now forms part of National Cycle Network Route 51. It's now a great traffic free tarmac path following the route of the new Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. It's a nice flat, safe route which is ideal for families or anybody looking for an easy cycle ride.
